 A Thug would like to take a moment out right now to give a major shout out to one of my favorite artist that I feel was true in the spirit ,true to hip hop and just truly living. My stone Prodigy from Mobb Deep I could really sincerely say that ever since I was young a teenager I used to listen to Mobb Deep and I really could say that these dudes was real. They was the definition of NYC rap, Grimy rap that kept it real and wasn't trying to be flashy or talk about s*** that they didn't have they was talking about the pain, the struggle and trill life. To see that the stone passed away is definitely something that f****** me up because I always wanted to do a song with Prodigy he was definitely a real one.

During the BET Awards on Sunday night (June 25), the network paid tribute to Prodigy of Mobb Deep, who died on June 20 , a mere five days before the show. On Monday (June 25), rap mogul Master P took to Instagram to slam the network for their tribute he deemed insincere.

The Instagram video shows the Ice Cream Man standing outside of a BET Experience event in Los Angeles and talking to the camera. “Prodigy, last week, couldn’t even get in here. Couldn’t get backstage, couldn’t have a pass,” he said to the lens. “All of a sudden, when you die, you this big superstar. Why couldn’t we give the man his flowers while he here?”

The rant, which lasts a full minute, talks about how other fallen entertainers have received similar treatment. He ended the rant with: “It’s sad. They did the same thing with Prince and Whitney Houston. C’mon, man. Give the people they flowers while they still here.”



He continued with a lengthy caption that read: “The Truth Hurts…BET Would Have Never Changed Their Show For Prodigy If He Was Still Alive!! It was a great thing acknowledging and celebrating the life of Prodigy and all of his accomplishments. But It’s a shame that none of these artists are told how great they are while they’re alive. Why can’t they get their flowers and tokens of appreciation while they’re still living? I know the truth hurts. I just have one serious question… Was Prodigy or Mobb Deep on BET’s radar last week… were they invited to the red carpet event, offered guest passes or an invite to perform at the awards show in the last 10 years?

“I’m willing to bet the answer is NO,” he continued. “I came to support my daughter today on the BET Experience stage but I decided that my family and I will not participate in the red carpet or awards events this year. I love my people and I support them but we really need to do better by each other. We lost a very talented brother, Prodigy. I send my condolences to his family. Hopefully, one day we can start appreciating the talented sisters and brothers while they are still alive. I know that what I am saying may ruffle a few feathers but the truth needed to be heard.”

The tribute to Prodigy ended up being a smaller spectacle than what viewers likely expected. Havoc, the other half of Mobb Deep, and Lil Kim both paid their respect prior to presenting the Kendrick Lamar with the award for Best Male Hip Hop Artist.

“His pen painted vivid pictures of street life,” Kim said. “He made what was ugly sound beautiful.”

“I’m going to miss my dude,” Havoc added. “This loss is painful. But the lyrical legacy he left us will impact the culture forever. Rest in peace, Prodigy. My brother.”

Reports obtained by TMZ say the tribute was originally supposed to involve performances, but was changed at the last minute to avoid interfering with performance contracts already signed.

Can Somebody On the Cavs Please Help LeBron

OAKLAND — Life finally isn’t fair for LeBron James. 




The greatest player in the world, authoring one of the greatest postseasons of all-time, is going to have nothing to show for it. In the NBA Finals, putting up triple-doubles doesn’t even come close to getting the job done against the Warriors. And in this bizzaro world, an effort like that doesn’t even make the Cavs competitive.

Such is the sad state of the Cavs these days after they wasted another brilliant performance from LeBron in Game 2 of the NBA Finals Sunday. He finished with a superb 29 points, 11 boards, and 14 assists and all the Cavaliers got for that genius work was a 19-point spanking and an 0-2 hole in the series. If LeBron doesn’t get some legit help STAT, basketball’s going to be done as soon as Friday night.

"He's one of the great players of all time, we all know that," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "I think he's playing better than he's ever played and you just do your best."

The Cavaliers, who had a pretty easy time of it in the East on their march to the Finals, have collectively been anything but their best these last two games. They've looked thoroughly outclassed and overmatched against the Warriors through eight quarters of the Finals. While LeBron has been pulling his weight and doing everything humanly possibly except ordering Nancy Kerrigan clubbings on the Warriors, the same can’t be said for his supporting cast that desperately needed to play above their weight if the Cavs were going to have a chance in this series.

Instead, LeBron has been blessed with no-show performance from his running mates and Sunday the main culprit was Kyrie Irving. But he wasn't the only one. Tristan Thompson again had a brutal game and the 3-point shot that was the Cavs’ calling card all season failed them. Yeah, Irving scored 19, but needed 23 shots to get there. Thompson only managed 8 points and was a -18 while on the court. The team finished shooting 27.6 percent from three, easily their worst mark of the postseason.

But it was Irving’s poor play that hurt the most. Cavs coach Tyronn Lue chalked some of that up to Irving’s defensive assignments.

“Running around with Steph and chasing Klay and chasing Steph and constantly having to be on alert, it takes a lot out of you offensively,” said Lue.

So there was LeBron Sunday night, putting on a brave face after another bitterly disappointing performance from his Cavs and doing his best not to throw his teammates under the bus. He balled. Other than Kevin Love, who finished with 27 points, nobody else joined him.

“I don’t want to get into what we need to do better. We need to do better right now,” James said. “Do things—I don’t want to say differently because you work so hard to get to this point—but make a couple of changes to see if we can be a lot better defensively.”

Once again, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry had themselves a night. Curry matched LeBron’s triple-double with one of this own—his first in the postseason—finishing with 32 points, 10 boards, and 11 assists. Durant ended the night with 33 points and 13 boards. The revelation was Klay Thompson who had been AWOL for the Warriors recently. Thompson busted out for 22, hitting 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Every Warrior saw some action and they combined to shoot 51.7 percent from the field. The win had added meaning since Kerr made a triumphant return to the sidelines for the first time since Golden State's first round series with the Trailblazers. The good vibes were flowing throughout Oracle Arena for anyone who bleeds blue and gold. The Cavs, on the other hand, probably endured the quietest plane ride back to Cleveland this season.
Looking ahead to Games 3 and 4, what can the Cavs do that’s going to stop a Golden State squad that still hasn’t played their A game and still has cruised to victories in the Finals? Three nights after the Cavs turned the ball over 20 times, the Warriors did the same. And despite all those extra possessions, the Cavs watched a close game in the first half balloon into a blowout after halftime. You can chalk that up to an NBA Finals record 18 3-pointers from the Warriors.

“The game changed quite a bit tonight from Game 1,” Kerr said. “They made a lot of adjustments. They put us on our heels and we were able to respond.”

In the locker room, James, who tied Magic Johnson’s record for most career triple-doubles in the NBA Finals with eight, not surprisingly wasn’t in a particularly great mood. For reasons he refused to reveal, he wasn’t paraded up to the podium to meet the media like normal and gave it right back to a reporter who asked him if Games 3 and 4 were just about defending home court.

“Are you a smart guy?” James asked. “Think so right? So if we don’t defend home court what happens?”

The season ends, basketball’s over until October, and LeBron and Cavs have to go back to the drawing board and maybe completely revamp things. After two games in the NBA Finals, he’s got no answers for how to stop the Warriors from raining on his repeat parade. If only he could get a little help from his friends. 

Donald Glover Reveals Why He’s Retiring Childish Gambino

Over the weekend, Donald Glover hopped on the Governors Ball stage to perform what he said was his only Childish Gambino performance of 2017. During said performance, Glover made mention of seeing us "for the last Gambino album."

For anyone doubting that Glover would indeed be hanging up his career as Childish Gambino, he's doubling down on his claims that Childish Gambino isn't "necessary" anymore. In some comments to Huff Po during a promo event for his hit FX series Atlanta, he compared his time as a musician to the stale state of movies. "There’s nothing worst than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘again?’" he told Huff Po. "I like it when something’s good and when it comes back there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that."

Glover also spoke on "Redbone" being "a punk song" in the sense that, as he describes it, "Redbone" is "a gospel song on the radio," but it sounds like he doesn't want to pigeonhole himself, saying "there's only so far you can go before you just are the radio."

"I feel like there's gotta be a reason to do things," Glover said.

Even with "Redbone" peaking at No. 17 this week, Glover's Hollywood plate is super full. He's set to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming this July, is going to be in the live-action adaptation of The Lion King voicing Simba, and will be developing an animated Deadpool series for FXX, as well as finding time to mold season 2 of Atlanta. Maybe there's just not enough hours in his days to churn out another Childish Gambino project, especially when Hollywood's hitting his line now more than ever.

Nicki Minaj Say her next album will be A Hip Hop Classic

At this point, a lot of folks would probably consider Nicki Minaj more of a pop artist than anything else, but that’s not changing the way she’s approaching her next album.

In an interview with DJ Whoo Kidd, Nicki said her next project will be a classic Hip Hop album.

“My goal right now is just releasing this fourth album and watching my fans react to it,” she said. “Because I know it’s going to be my best body of work  … Obviously, I’m not telling them when my album is coming out, but I just know that it’s going to be amazing because I want to thank the people who rocked with me all these years … I gotta impress them … So that’s next on my bucket list. To deliver my fourth album and make sure it’s a classic Hip Hop album that people will never forget.”
