Lil Wayne Blasts Cash Money: 'I Want Off This Label'
If it seems like Lil Wayne's upcoming album, Tha Carter V, has gotten caught in a holding pattern, that's because the rapper says it is. In a series of tweets, Weezy criticized Cash Money – the label that has released all of his albums and is home to the Young Money imprint he founded – likening his contract to a prison sentence."To all my fans, I want you to know that my album won't and hasn't been released bekuz [label co-founder] Baby and Cash Money Records refuse to release it," he wrote.
"This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation. "I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain't that easy," he continued.
"I am a prisoner and so is my creativity. Again, I am truly sorry and I don't blame ya if ya fed up with waiting for me and this album. But thank you." A Cash Money representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment. In March, MTV reported that Tha Carter V, which Wayne called his "final solo album," would come out that May.
Around the time the record was supposed to come out, he put out "Grindin'," a track featuring Drake. With the album unreleased, Wayne and Drake then embarked on a co-headlining summer tour, debuting the single live. In August, Wayne released a video for another new song, "Krazy," with the album expected to come out in late October. Just before Halloween, Wayne released another new song, "Gotti," featuring the Lox, and Billboard reported that Tha Carter V would then be released in two parts, the first of which would come out December 9th.
"I recorded so many songs," Wayne said at the time. "I got too many songs. I worked way too much to give y'all half of it. If I would've dropped the album today, it would have to be 12 or 13 songs. I refuse to cheat my fans. I refuse to cheat myself." At present, the leaderboard on Cash Money's website says the album is "coming soon."
Spike Lee splices footage of Eric Garner’s death with Radio Raheem’s in ‘Do the Right Thing’
Director Spike Lee released a video Monday on Instagram and YouTube, editing together footage of the recent death of Eric Garner with the death of fictional character Radio Raheem in one of his movies, “Do the Right Thing,” presumably to illustrate how little has changed since the movie’s 1989 release.
Garner is the Staten Island father of six who died Thursday after a New York police officer restrained him in a chokehold. His death was captured on video, which has since gone viral. In it, he can be heard telling officers “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.” A different video depicted a motionless Garner, who was asthmatic, on the ground with police standing over his 6-foot-5, 350-pound body as they waited for EMTs.
Daniel Pantaleo, the officer in the video who appears to put Garner in the chokehold, was stripped of his badge and gun and placed on desk duty. The two EMTs and two paramedics who responded to the Garner call have beensuspended without pay because they neglected to help Garner while he was unconscious, according to video of the situation. The EMT can be seen checking Garner’s pulse, but a source told the New York Post that she should have placed Garner on a stretcher immediately and checked his breathing passages. He was never given an oxygen mask, or even checked with a stethoscope.
In Lee’s film, Raheem is killed while being restrained in a chokehold by an NYPD officer. Raheem’s death was actually inspired by the 1983 death of a real man, Michael Stewart, a 25-year old graffiti artist who died 13 days after a police officer placed him in a chokehold and asphyxiated him. Stewart was taken to the hospital in a coma and never woke up. In “Do the Right Thing,” when Raheem is killed, a voice in the crowd says, “They did it again, just like Michael Stewart.”
Three of the officers in the Stewart case were indicted for criminally negligent homicide, assault and perjury after the city’s medical examiner found Stewart had been strangled. Another three were charged with perjury. All were acquitted.
New York City police officers are not permitted to use chokeholds.
Because this year marks the 25th anniversary of the release of Lee’s seminal work, it’s been flecked with celebrations, screenings and discussions that reflect on the message of “Do the Right Thing” and its place in American culture and history. The Obamas went to see “Do the Right Thing” on their first date, and they commemorated the anniversary with a video message to Lee that was shown before a recent screening at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where Lee was introduced by Academy of Motion Picture Arts president Cheryl Boone Issacs.
“Spike, thank you for helping me impress Michelle, and thank you for telling a powerful story,” the president said. “Today, I’ve got a few more gray hairs than I did back in 1989. You don’t look like Mookie anymore. But ‘Do the Right Thing’ still holds up a mirror to our society, and it makes us laugh, and think and challenges all of us to see ourselves in one another.”

J. Cole Track Fire Squad Calls out Eminem, Iggy, & Justin Timberlake
J. Cole’s album 2014 Forest Hills Drive is not officially out yet, but it’s already sparking controversy. On the leaked track “Fire Squad,” the North Carolina rapper calls out some famous white artists for appropriating black culture.
“History repeats itself and that’s just how it goes / Same way that these rappers always bite each other’s flows / Same thing that my ni**a Elvis did with rock ‘n’ roll / Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and then Macklemore,” raps Cole, who appeared on the remix to Timberlake’s “TKO.”
He also has some words for Iggy Azalea, who beat Eminem and Drake for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist at this year’s American Music Awards.
“While silly ni**as argue over who gon’ snatch the crown / Look around my ni**a, white people have snatched the sound / This year I’ll probably go to the awards dappered down / Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile.”
He’s quick to add, “I’m just playin’, but all good jokes contain true shit / Same rope you climb up on, they’ll hang you with.”
Fans took to Twitter to react and debate. Some sided with Cole, while others defended their favorite artist.
J. Cole’s third album 2014 Forest Hills Drive arrives in stores and online on December 9.

Joey Bada$$ Thinks More Artists Need To Step-Up As Role Models
Joey Bada$$ isn’t satisfied with hip-hop’s response to the shooting death of Michael Brown and Ferguson grand jury’s decision not to indict the now former Officer Darren Wilson.
“I think that it’s very important for artists to raise awareness in situations, especially worldwide situations,” the rapper revealed to MTV UK while in London. “Because I feel like, in today’s world, in today’s society, we don’t have as much civil rights leaders as we used to.”
To fill the gap of role models, Joey believes it is on today’s artists to fill the gap and rise to the occasion. “Back in the day, a civil rights leader would come on television and he’s well-known; everyone knows him, he’s like the president. Now, today, it’s like, we have very few. And the people of today who have that same stature are musicians. Now, it’s rappers who have that stature.”
With the impending January release of his debut LP, B4.DA.$$ (Before The Money), the Brooklyn native hopes to use his growing platform to effect change and shed light on important issues like the protests in Ferguson.
“Me, as an artist, I’m always gonna try to do my part,” he said. “The more and more I grow, the bigger voice I become, so the more people I can actually speak for. So I’m gonna try to utilize that to do nothing but positive things.”

Official Video "Lord Knows" Quazee, Reggie Bandz, and Skeeter_Manny is Nice
NYCE...New York Creates Everything...that's just the way it was, is and will be. Harlem artist Bandz, Quazee, and Skeeter_Manny are back with an anthem tilted LORD KNOWS. The song is a hustler's anthem talking about the struggle of making ends meats. Lord knows they don't want to do wrong but sometimes doing wrong helps you make it right....How did Clipse say it? 'When I wasn't always able (abel) there was always Cain (Coke).
This track is straight fire yoga flame, and for Quazee ( who was featured as one of our premiere artist to watch) this is another strong entry for him. Not only is this a quality track but also a quality video. He's been on a tear lately receiving acclaim on Worldstar, & Youtube for his tracks "Voices" & "F*ck Is You Saying". This is another monster banger that he can add to his growing resume. Lord Knows is Produced by Karma you can watch the video and download the track at the links below.
