Drug Gang Taken Down at East Harlem's AK Houses, Prosecutors Say
NYPD BEEN CLEANING HOUSE LATELY
Officials conducted a 10-month investigation into the drug operations by an East Harlem gang, in which 17 members were indicted.
Officials conducted a 10-month investigation into the drug operations by an East Harlem gang, in which 17 members were indicted.
HARLEM — A drug trafficking gang that ran crack through East Harlem's AK Houses has been taken down after a 10-month investigation, the city's top narcotics prosecutor said.
The operation led to the arrest of 17 members of the gang “No Sleep Get Money, or “N$GM,” for “round-the-clock narcotics sales” at the private housing complex on 128th and Lexington Avenue, officials said.
Charges include conspiracy and criminal sale of a controlled substance.
“Finding decent affordable housing is challenging enough for low-income Manhattan residents without facing daily threats posed by warring gangs and around the clock drug trafficking," said Bridget G. Brennan, the city’s special narcotics prosecutor.
“AK Houses provides desperately needed subsidized housing, but became the site of multiple shootings and nonstop drug dealing, putting hard working families in peril.”
The NYPD began the investigation — dubbed “Operation Insomnia” — in November 2015 in response to community complaints about drug sales and shootings in the area, officials said.
At least five shootings took place in front of the AK Houses over the past year, officials said.
The gang sold crack in the lobbies, hallways and stairwells of the AK Houses, officials said.
At all hours of the day and night, gang members met with customers on sidewalks in front of the housing complex, playgrounds, three public schools and a charter school, officials said.
The gang also sold crack cocaine to undercover officers on approximately 20 occasions, with the majority of these transactions set up by cell phone, officials said.
Officials also seized two firearms during the investigation. On Sept. 15, police seized a .38 caliber firearm and a .9mm firearm from an apartment in the AK Houses from Matthew Jones, one of the gang members, officials said.
The guns, along with cocaine and drug paraphernalia, were recovered from inside a dresser drawer in a bedroom where a 1-year-old and three other children were present, which prompted charges of unlawfully dealing with a child and possession of an illegal firearm, officials said.

DESIIGNER ARRESTED ON GUN CHARGES...ANOTHER ONE
First BOBBY SHRMUDA NOW DESIIGNER
The rapper Desiigner has been arrested for pointing a gun at another motorist outside the Lincoln Tunnel in Midtown, police said Friday.
Desiigner, whose real name is Sidney Royel Selby, was driving into Manhattan from New Jersey when he got into an argument with a motorist driving behind his Cadillac Escalade at W. 42nd St. and Eighth Ave. about 9:10 p.m. Thursday, police said. The arrest was first reported by TMZ.
Desiigner allegedly flicked a lit cigarette at the other motorist, then waved a gun at him and took off, police said.
The startled motorist took down Desiigner’s license plate number and called 911, police said. The rapper and five friends riding in his car were stopped across town at W. 42nd St. and Third Ave.
Cops searched the car and found the gun, oxycontin pills and other drugs, officials said.
Desiigner was handcuffed on weapons charges, menacing and drug possession with intent to sell.
Four other people in the car were also arrested. Charges were pending against them.
Desiigner, a native of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, is known for his single, “Panda,” which rose to No. 1 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in April. In February, he signed with Kanye West’s label Good Music.

DRAKE & RICK ROSS MEET TO SQUASH BEEF WITH MEEK MILL
Drake vs. Meek Mill, easily last year’s biggest beef in hip-hop. It was an event, a war that has affected both sides, and now after a year of madness, there’s a chance the war is finally coming to an end.
At DJBooth, we pride ourselves on reporting the facts, normally we would completely ignore the rumor mill, but this morning a rumor caught our attention concerning the Drake and Meek Mill beef. According to Drink Champs podcaster and veteran rapper N.O.R.E, Drake and Rick Ross met to finally squash any remaining issue between the two rappers. This isn’t some sketchy source; I think we all can agree that N.O.R.E is credible. He isn’t the type to spread gossip and nonsense. If N.O.R.E's source is correct, if Ross and Drake truly met up to ceasefire on both sides, this could be a pretty big deal.
Rick Ross and Drake’s relationship has been solid since Drake was ushered into the spotlight. Ross and the entire Cash Money/Young Money camp have been thick as thieves, Drake being their top prospect connected him to the biggest boss like extended family. There was one point that Ross and Drake were even working on a mixtape together. It doesn’t surprise me that Rozay would be the one to play a vital role in squashing the drama between Meek and Drake. I’m actually surprised he didn’t step in sooner. His stance the entire time has felt like he straddled the fence without leaning too heavily on one side. Even when shade was thrown in Drake’s direction, it never felt like the two were loading up lyrical bullets to end one another.

I believe that the timing of this rumor is very important to the story. Meek Mill is gearing up to release Dreamchasers 4 - his first full-length project since the beef started. It’s imperative that Meek returns strong. I would never say that Drake ended his career, but he did harm his momentum. Since rap is in a constant state of change, momentum can be the difference between staying in the spotlight and fading to black. Missing your moment can close the casket on being the next big artist. Meek was in a great position before the beef begun, Dreamchasers 4 is his chance to regain his footing, and the last thing he needs is to be fighting an old foe.
Drake dissing Meek during his show in Philly was proof things weren’t completely cooled over. Also, the reaction from Meek’s bodyguards/goons/bodygoons proved that the other side was still equally as antsy to prove something. The fire hasn’t completely burned out, even after a year of blazing. It’s better that the two squash things and move and amicably. There’s nothing left to gain. This beef is nothing more than poking a dying cow. Let it die and let two careers live.
The rap world is big enough for Meek and Drake, the two should realize that by now.

NEW NICKI MINAJ TRACK (PINKPRINT FREESTYLE OOOUUU!!!!!!)
Completely out of the blue, Nicki Minaj has just unveiled a brand new song. The track, titled "The Pinkprint Freestyle" is spun over Young MA's recent hit "Ooouuu."
The new track opens with a shout out from Minaj to her mentor Lil Wayne. "Young Money! Shout out to Lil Wayne for signing a little chick from Queens," she says. Then she says, "Young ma, its the female Jay Z," which could either be taken as play on Young M.A.'s name, or just a big up to herself and her place as the biggest female rapper in the game. After that, Nicki goes into vintage killer mode and drops atom bomb lines like, "I'm dragging these hoes like Harambe did the kid," and "Don't ever talk about Nicki in the past tense / Unless I flop past that ass in a fast Benz." It concludes with what sounds like possibly another song that may be released at a later date.

Han Solo 'Star Wars' Spin-Off Reportedly Eyeing Donald Glover for Young Lando Calrissian
Now that Han Solo's Star Wars spin-off has found the perfect dude to play a young version of its titular smuggler, the hunt is on for an equally perfect dude to play a young Lando Calrissian. Billy Dee Williams had the honor of playing the best-dressed man in Cloud City in the original trilogy and, for obvious reasons, won't be returning to the throne for the Han Solo spin-off. But according to Birth Movies Death, the filmmakers aren't sweating it and already have a young Lando in mind: Donald Glover.
BMD's report claims Glover is the "first choice" for the role, adding that he's who directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller want for the character above all others. Though there's currently no deal on the table, this would be quite the catch for the untitled Han Solo movie and would provide yet another interesting chapter to Glover's multifaceted career.
Alden Ehrenreich, who you might recall was funny AF in the Coen Brothers' Hail Caesar! earlier this year, was officially announced as the young Han Solo at Star Wars Celebration last month. "When it first came along I knew everybody would be going out for it," Ehrenreich said of scoring the role, Deadline reported. "I read the sides and loved them and thought, 'Who knows, but let me give it a shot.'"
If rumors of Donald Glover as a young Lando are true, joining the Star Wars universe will make the Atlanta star and creator a very busy dude in the years ahead. In addition to unveiling his long-awaited FX series this September, Glover recently signed on for a mystery role in Spider-Man: Homecoming and is currently prepping to unveil new Childish Gambino music later this year.
Soooo what do yall think about Donald Glover Being Lando Calrissian...
Who Cares If Malia Obama Was Smoking Weed?
BY MICHAEL ARCENEAUX
Malia Obama has found herself the target of online tabloids for no other reason than behaving like a teenager.
The first instance occurred after video surfaced of the 18-year-old daughter of U.S. President Barack Obama daring to dance while at a concert. Sites like Radar Online published headlines like, “Watch Malia Obama Expose Her Butt & Twerk At Lollapalooza” and “Malia Obama Caught Bumping & Grinding At Lollapalooza In Shocking New Video.” The byline for each read “Radar Staff”—more than likely a cover, since one can only imagine how embarrassed the adult who fixed their fingers to type such a disgusting descriptor for a young girl who only turned 18 one month ago must have felt in that moment.
For the record, that wasn’t twerking and white people really need to stop abusing that term and send it back to its original owners as they have done enough damage. Sadly, though, that same outlet—which shares a parent company with the National Enquirer, which many people will tell you is quite friendly with Donald Trump—is at it again. This time, the headline is “EXPLOSIVE VIDEO: Malia Obama CAUGHT On Camera Smoking ‘Pot.’” The excessive use of caps lock is supposed to denote that this is a serious story.
Alas, THAT IS NOT THE CASE HERE.
It is very likely that we may all see the legalization, or at least widespread decriminalization, of marijuana nationwide within our lifetimes. Still, even if Malia Obama did hit the blunt, her dad smoked weed and he turned out alright. In fact, the last two U.S. presidents have acknowledged using drugs like cocaine before becoming president. Neither became Rick James.
However, unlike any of them, Malia Obama is merely the daughter of a politician. She is not a politician nor is she a person who chose her celebrity. That means she has every right to behave like a normal teenager because she doesn’t owe anything to any of us.
We are not her constituents. She is not selling us a product. She has every right to live her life as she sees fit. We are mere spectators, and in cases like these, people like these tabloid jackasses trying to exploit her life for clicks ought to look the hell away.
Some have called the criticism of Malia Obama evidence of a double standard, citing when George W. Bush’s daughters were simply branded as “party girls” after receiving citations from police in Texas for underage drinking offenses in a popular Tex-Mex restaurant. But it was just as wrong to invade the personal lives of then-first year college students as it is now to antagonize a teen who just graduated high school. It’s less hypocrisy and more of a bad pattern continuing under a different administration.
During a 2014 appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, Jenna Bush Hager was asked by a caller about the criticism Sasha and Malia Obama received for their demeanor at the National Thanksgiving Turkey pardoning that took place the week prior. "I'm fiercely protective of them, obviously," she told Andy Cohen. "I don't think that it's easy. It's not a job that they wanted."
While Bush Hager acknowledged that it was a “privilege” to be in such a position as First Daughter, her point still rings true. Malia Obama doesn’t owe anyone a damn thing. Her life may be magnified due to her father’s job title, but her life is not for our consumption. She should be free to live, make mistakes, enjoy herself, and dance offbeat—or right on the beat to Bryson Tiller—whenever she wants.
Do not judge her. Do not feed this exploitative beast when it is once again unleashed on Malia’s younger sister. If I could, I would get her a cigarillo and point her in the direction of new friends who know better than to record her antics to appease gross, gossipy adults who need to go find some real business. Other than that, I don’t care and neither should anyone else.
Leave her be.

JOE BUDDEN releases hellacious Drake Diss "WAKE"
Early Wednesday morning, Joe Budden took to Twitter to announce the release of another Drake diss song called "Wake."
— Joe Budden (@JoeBudden) July 6, 2016
The song features Budden calling Drizzy out for not responding to his initial diss, "Making A Murderer (Part 1)." It opens with an excerpt from a eulogy scene from the TV show Eastbound & Down, which Budden helpfully links to on his new song's Soundcloud page.
Among the highlights is when Budden calls Drake out on his propensity for borrowing styles from other artists, even at the expense of those artists' careers. "We want a Party album," Budden raps, referring to OVO signee PARTYNEXTDOOR. "But you keep stealing all of Party album/To go and put it on your party album."
