After numerous delays of her album Broke With Expensive Taste and creative differences between "212" rapper Azealia Banks and her record label Interscope/Polydor, she has officially been dropped.
Ever the avid tweeter, Banks excitedly made the announcement on her official Twitter account today (July 10).
"IM ABOUT TO GET OUT OF MY DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S THE BIG SURPRISE!!!!! I'S IS FREE!!!!!" she wrote in a series of tweets before making a literary reference. "I'm feeling like miss celie at the end of color purple. Free at last."

In a June interview with Gigwise, Banks took things one step farther and admitted that she had started to hide new tracks from Interscope.
"I haven't been releasing anything that could potentially be phenomenal," she said. "I haven't been doing anything good because I don't want these people to want me. It's like a relationship with an ex-boyfriend, where you kind of do things to make him go away."

The future of Broke With Expensive Taste and Banks' discography is unknown at this time, but one thing is for sure: she is one happy camper. She's been retweeting many fans in celebration of her new free status and declaring she can finally do what she wants.
