Together, Kendrick Lamar
and Flying Lotus can help
raise the dead. Don’t believe us? Watch the duo’s video for “Never Catch Me.”
In the rather spooky clip, directed by Hiro Murai (Spoon, Childish Gambino, Queens of the Stone Age),
a little boy and a little girl awaken from their deathbeds and dance away.
And not just any dance, it’s a whole choreographed number. We’re talking swing
dancing, a little ballet and a lot of jazz hands.
As the song implies, no one’s ever going to catch them now.
Flying Lotus’ album, You’re Dead! is out October 7,
but still no word on how many FlyLo beats Kendrick will be using on his upcoming album, which still has no
release date or title.
Recently Flying Lotus implied
that Lamar left him high and dry when it comes to his rap alter-ego,
Captain Murphy, saying, “I went on tour and he recorded a bunch of my songs. I
don’t know if he’s gonna use them or not, but he recorded a bunch of stuff,
which is why there’s no Captain Murphy
album out yet. He took all my beats!
“He took, like, 12, 13 of
my tracks, man,” the producer continued. “I think he recorded all of them, too.
I just don’t know if they’re ever gonna see the light of day.”
Perhaps,
fans will get a better assessment of Kendrick’s beats when he hits the stage in the Bermuda Triangle
this Halloween.
