Muhammad Ali was already pulling for Manny Pacquiao to
beat Floyd Mayweather on May 2. But after what Mayweather just
said about him, we're guessing that he's really going to be
rooting for Pacman now.
Over the weekend, ESPN released some clips of Stephen
A. Smith interviewing Mayweather. And in one of those clips, which
aired on ESPN First Take a short time ago, Mayweather
said that he believes he's a better fighter than Ali was. He said that he
respects guys like Ali andSugar Ray Leonard but that he doesn't
believe that anyone was better than he is today.
"No one can ever brainwash me to make me believe that
Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali was better than me," he said. "No
one could ever brainwash me and tell me that. But one thing I will do, I'm
going to take my hat off to them and respect those guys because those are the
guys that paved the way for me to be where I'm at today."
Mayweather also went on to clown Ali for losing to Leon
Spinks in 1978 and to take a not-so-subtle jab at his
performance during the Rumble in the Jungle.
"Leon Spinks only had seven fights," he said.
"Never put a fighter in there with Floyd Mayweather with seven fights.
Take punishment and let a man tire yourself out from beating you? You hit him
with a few punches and go down and quit and you want to be glorified for
that?"
LOL. We'd say we're outraged, but…Mayweather! We see what
you're doing here. And even though we don't necessarily agree with anything
you're saying, it's hard to hate on you for saying it.
