Drake is done with CashMoney....Legally

Between the hype and excitement surrounding Drake's surprise project If You're Reading This It's Too Late, it was easy to forget that his supposed "mixtape" was actually on sale via iTunes... meaning, it's not really a mixtape. There have been plenty of fan theories but during an interview with HipHopDX, DatPiff's Kyle "KP" Reilly revealed that the mixtape will count towards Drake's album requirements on Cash Money Records.

"Originally we [DatPiff] were in talks to release it for free...and have DJ Drama host and even make it an official Gangsta Grillz... however the label was not in favor of that and they struck an agreement to release the project the retail route and it would count towards one of his albums," KP said in a statement to the site. He says the label had no outside control or input on the project, and says the agreement to release it as a retail product was a "middle ground" between the two parties.

This raises some interesting questions, especially in light of the situation with Drake's mentor and boss Lil Wayne and his drama with the label. It looks like the self proclaimed "6 God" may be trying to jump ship just like the Young Money leader.

All indications point to If Your Reading This To Late contributing to Drakes album requirements. If that's the case then Drake has just released his last album under Cash Money and is now free to do whatever he likes.
