It
wasn’t brunch but Taylor Swift and Kanye West sat down for dinner in New
York City on Tuesday night. According
to TMZ, Kanye (sans Kim K) and Swift arrived at The Spotted Pig in
Manhattan separately and dined at a table for two. The two have buried the
hatchet after a six-year rift that stemmed from ‘Ye storming
the VMA stage and interrupting her award acceptance speech in 2009. At this
year’s Grammy awards, Swift approached Kanye and suggested that the two
collaborate.
Later that week, Kanye joined
Ryan Seacrest on iHeartRadio and confirmed that he is down to get in the
studio with Swift. The dinner date will only make the rumors of a West-Swift
collab swelter.
Swift, who is arguably music’s biggest superstar, has
suddenly become a fixture in hip-hop conversation. In the fall of 2014, Swift
began to publicly declare that she is a fan of hip-hop. During an interview
with Rolling Stone, she claimed to know
every word to Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle” and Kendrick Lamar
responded by saying he
appreciates TSwift.
“Some people always try to lock it down and categorize
it for one particular listener,” Lamar told the AP. “But it moves all, even
people from other genres. I appreciate Taylor Swift for supporting not only my
music but just the hip-hop culture. There’s really no gap. It’s music and it
feels good.”
As Swfit’s popularity has grown, more and more hip-hop
artists are trying to latch on. French Montana recently said he wants to work
with her in a XXL
story and if the rumors are true, Swift’s hip-hop connection will hit a
climax if a song with Kanye West releases.
