Anyone who watched the 57th Annual Grammy Awards knows just
how long of a show that was. But regardless of that fact, days later the world
is only talking about a moment that only took a few short seconds: Kanye West almost interrupting
Beck’s speech.
Many of the viewers at home as well as at the ceremony
believed this stunt was just a joke but during E! News’s post show, Kanye
explained that he wasn’t joking. In order to clear a bit of the negative
attention this moment has been getting, Kanye went on air to speak with Ryan
Seacrest.
During the short interview Kanye admitted that immediately
after he walked off the stage, Taylor Swift of all
people came up to him saying that he should have went on stage. But the only
thing stranger than seeing Kanye and Taylor interact and take photos together
is the fact that Taylor said she wants to work with him. Kanye said, “Any
artist with an amazing point of view, perspective, fan base, I’m down to get in
the studio and work. I don’t discriminate, I don’t have an elitism of music.”
Kanye also admitted he may have misspoke when he said Beck
needs to respect artistry, “Beck is one the most respected artists and respects
artistry. But I felt — and this is my opinion and he’s his own man and he’s not
wrong and we’ll still go play basketball and stuff [unless] he doesn’t want to
do it — but I felt that even though the Grammys some times gives awards to
people who you wouldn’t think should win in the category, as a respect to
artists, we mention the other artist’s name in our speech. And that was the
point I was making about it.”
